For Vibrant Skin and Health, Drink All-Fruit Smoothies
All-fruit smoothies can reduce your need for supplement capsules or tablets to revive your skin and health. In some cases frozen or fresh fruit consumed in a fruit smoothie is economical, fast to prepare, very nutritious, delicious and portable!
Food supplements are just that… supplements, which means “to add to” … your food. Tablet and capsule supplements are not the only way to improve your nutritional intake. Always choose the actual food first for vibrant skin and health! Blueberries, strawberries, grapes and other berries are rich in vitalizing nutrients. Pears (peeled) are high in fiber and really add smoothness to the texture of the beverage. In the winter months, frozen fruit can be used. This fruit has been picked and frozen at the peak of freshness and is more affordable than fresh fruit off season. Truthfully, just about any fruit works well in a fruit smoothie.
What NOT to Add to Your Smoothie
Believe it or not, there are a few ingredients that most people add to their smoothies that are not “optimum” ingredients. Many people advocate “fruit” smoothies that contain bananas, yogurt, pasteurized-concentrated fruit juices, soy or rice milk, and/or cow’s milk. Unfortunately bananas are picked extremely green and due to their oily nature, digest very slowly. The slow digestion required by bananas, soymilk, rice milk, other “milks” and processed juices destroys most of the food value of the fresh fruit in a fruit smoothie.
Definitely Add Flax Seeds to Your Smoothie
Soaked or germinated flax seeds work excellent in a fruit smoothie. They add a plump, pleasant texture, increase the fiber content and making the beverage more filling. Read our blog about the nutritional benefits and the proper way to prepare and consume flax seeds. Avoid ground flax seeds!
The Perfect Fruit Smoothie
The possibilities for fruit combinations are endless and the best part is you get to decide what the perfect all-fruit smoothie is! As long as you are choosing healthy fruit, let your taste buds rule! Start with 1-1 ¼ cup of fruit in the blender. When you become adept at mixing fruit smoothies, it only takes about 5 minutes to make the beverage in a blender. Pour and enjoy. Cleanup is easy if you use the blender’s powerful motor to wash out the canister.
