US Congress calls a hearing on cosmetics safety

On March 27th, the House Energy and Commerce Committee held the first official congressional hearing on cosmetics safety in more than 30 years. This event follows the recent commotion and debates over the levels of certain ‘toxic’ chemicals present in cosmetics products, such as mercury found in face cream, lead found in lipstick, and formaldehyde in hair products.  We will write about the results of the meeting as reports emerge.
